Christianity, originally a matter of talent, had to be democratised. The slow struggle to become a world religion, whereby everything profound, esoteric, accessible to the talented individual was extirpated. - This also brought back optimism, without which a world religion cannot keep going. Purgatory and κατάστασις [katastasis - institution] are its creations.
