We need to risk a further step: exclusive humanism is quite simply impossible.  Not because it would render man inhuman, but because it would destroy man in the most fundamental sense of the term.  When left to its internal logic, it must destroy itself sooner or later.  It is incapable of giving an answer to a fundamental question: precisely, that of the foundation.
